Action For Sport joined students from Burton and South Derbyshire College at St George’s Park, the home of England football, as part of the College’s induction day.
The College has recently signed up to Action For Sport’s School Partnership Programme, and we were delighted to be invited along. It was a great opportunity to meet students, introduce the work of Action For Sport and talk about how they can get involved in the programme.
Students spent the day experiencing the home of England football and taking part in a range of activities designed to help them get to know each other, build confidence and start their time at the College positively.
For Action For Sport, the day was also an opportunity to talk about the barriers that can prevent people from participating in sport and how students can help make a difference. Through the School Partnership Programme, students can get involved in volunteering, raising awareness, collecting and recycling sports clothing and equipment, fundraising and supporting their wider community.
Andy Papworth, Head of School Partnerships at Action For Sport, said:
“It was fantastic to join the students for their induction day at St George’s Park. Our School Partnership Programme is about removing barriers to sport, but also giving students opportunities to get involved themselves, make a difference and develop their own skills and experience. We’re really looking forward to working with the students and Burton and South Derbyshire College over the coming years.”
A huge thank you to Burton and South Derbyshire College for inviting Action For Sport to be part of such a fantastic day.
